With that out of the way, we believe that getting the OS X to run on a laptop is easier than getting it to run on a full sized desktop for multiple reasons; first reason being the fact that most of the hardware configurations on the laptops are the same.
For instance, if 2 people own a Dell Inspiron 15installing the OS X on both of the laptops will pretty much be the same due to the similarities in the hardware. However, things work a bit differently for the desktop computers as they are not always having the same specifications, and to have the OS X running perfectly fine, you may have to make tweaks to more than just 1 piece of hardware.
The good thing is that since motherboard is responsible for taking care of all the hardware, you can pick the right motherboard, install hackintosh on it with your hardware, and have your way with everything.

I have always been a fan of Asus motherboards, especially their Republic of Gamers lineup mainly because Asus is known for making high-end motherboards that focus on both aesthetic, as well as the performance. I have been using this motherboard in my gaming PC and so far I love the performance and the features that I get with it; after a while, I thought I would finally use this motherboard for dual booting purpose, and install Hackintosh in it, and the result was successful.
For starters, the motherboard is an absolute beauty; Asus has done away with red and black theme and have gone with a neutral grey which looks good with any colour combination. I was not sure about this move, but after using it for a while, I am certainly in love with it. In addition to that, Asus has tried its best to squeeze in as many advanced features as you can possibly get; you have USB Type C 3.

Of course I want to run macos on the machine, El Capitan or newer.
I also think about putting a nvidia based graphics card inside, but i think this should be no problem. Edit: I though about using xeon ev4 processors with LGA socket. Can you give me any advice which motherboards to use in this setup? I found stuff from around when people build xeon based machines but it's almost and this seems a bit outdated.
Do you have any other tips and tricks that I should consider in planning? Best, A. Last edited: Oct 22, There are a few X99 builds in the User Build's section, but they're usually a lot more work than Hackintosh'ing a consumer platform rig e. Personally I'd wait until the next Apple event October 27th and see if they finally update the Mac Pro. If they do, I'd try to build something similar for best compatibility. Has anyone ever got a trashcan Mac Pro clone working? I mean, are there Ivy E Xeon builds anywhere?
I know there are working Tylersburg builds, but those are too old to be worth the trouble. I have an Ivy E3 Xeon that works nicely. Except that sleep and shutdown don't work, but otherwise it's been nice, stable and powerful.
X79 builds were in the "Buyer's Guide" a few years ago, so I'm pretty sure that they're supported well. I never had one myself though. X99 and v4 are okmany on the web did it successfully and few with 2 x v4 asus or supermicro mobo dual cpu but clearly possible with fakecpu and some mods to do, but not terrible at all I mean this number of cores if it is used at the same times: many rendering by different programs and so onif people plan to buy a xeon with more than 20 cores and only 16 GB: they truly need to forget it, i mean this config needs RAM if not it will be clearly limited!
I have GB of DDR4 corsair cheap than others and go easily to at very low cas cas 13it is the max for the xeon v4, so dont buy the last super duper memory MHz it will not be useful! Thank you for your information. I will definitely check deeper into it.

While this isn't the most powerful SR-2 build out there, I think a lot of people would enjoy seeing the machine, regardless! The SR-2 really is a beautiful board. The color scheme looks really nice, as well.
I built this system live via my website, so of course, there were a whole bunch of live fails I ended up needing to change the backplate that came on the SR-2 to allow the Frio coolers to fit. Aside from that, the case simply didn't have all that great of cable management.
I decided not to go with liquid cooling, as these air coolers were very highly rated, as well as budget constraints this was a pricey build as it was. Liquid cooling may make its way to this build in the future, though. I decided to go with a GTX for this build. With that said, the card would still be able to perform quite well within OS X, plus I got a pretty sweet deal off eBay for a next to brand-new card. After some hard work out of the case, the system seems to be performing great!
The machine posts just fine, OS X can be installed, etc. The Frio coolers blend right in with the black and red color scheme of the board, and even offer a nice white accent with the actual fan. I also felt that blue memory would be a nice accent to an otherwise black and red machine.
Once I got the blue memory in there, there were times I liked it, and other times I didn't. More on the memory in a bit. Well, remember that memory I was just talking about? After putting the machine in the case and tidying up the wires, I boot the machine on, boot into OS X, and what do you know; only 32GB of memory is being recognized. I booted into Windows, and the same thing was happening.
This isn't good. Time to do some diagnostics. After booting it up a few times out of the case, it seemed to boot just fine every single time. This led me to believe that it had something to do with the case. After removing all un-necessary motherboard mounts, the system now boots up just fine! I also decided to go with different memory, which is where the aforementioned G.
Skill Ripjaw memory comes into place. This is pretty close to the completed built, but some tests were still being run:. I always loved the look of the Windows CPU meter gadget when under a full load, but with all of these threads, it's better than seeing a real rainbow! I have some additional videos on my YouTube channel regarding this machine if you want to see some more of Mufasa!
I have videos of a tour of the hardware, as well as the benchmarks right below:. Great job on the build!!!
