Denomination: Baptist. Message from Daniel 7 to interpret the Beasts in Revelation Now being honest, it sure sounds like something a bad dream, a real nightmare or maybe a bad drug trip!
This passage of Scripture is obviously one that is symbolic in nature, and not literal. However, how in the world do we ever Denomination: Bible Church.
Last week, we have discussed two different chapters in the book of Daniel. In chapter two, Daniel interpreted the dream of the statue that Nebuchadnezzar had in his dream; the construction of the statue was interpreted as the kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and the Roman Empire. We also We are dell inspiron 15 5000 review in the middle of troubled and uncertain times, but instead of being fearful, let's grab on tightly to four certainties found in Daniel's vision of the four beasts from Daniel chapter 7.

Last week we commented on the context of the book of Daniel. We said that the book was set during the Babylonian exile of Judah. Jerusalem had been carried into Babylon as a punishment for sin, for rebellion against God. Hear the word of God:. If you have your Bibles, I would invite you to turn with me to the 4 th chapter of Daniel. We have said throughout our study of this great book that a central question in the book of Daniel is the issue, How can the Christian sing the Lord's song in a strange land?
And as we live in a land which is stranger and stranger to us If you have your Bibles I'd invite you to turn with me to Daniel, chapter 5.The Book Of Daniel Part 8 Chapter 8
Good evening. On his throne he drank and ate, but for Belshazzar it If you would turn with me to Daniel chapter 6 or you can look there on your handouts.Daniel, a godly prophet and a man of unshakable faith, has been steadfast in his daily walk of fellowship with God throughout the first six chapters of the Book of Daniel. Nothing has caused him to panic or depart from his faith and practice as a godly Jew.
Neither peer opposition nor the king's new law chapter 6 greatly disturbed Daniel. A revelation from God in his sleep discloses future events which Daniel finds most troubling. Twice in chapter 7 Daniel speaks of his distress:. Where it has not caused distress, it should have. Nebuchadnezzar became distressed when he received his first night vision because he did understand some of his dream.
In his vision, the statue collapsed and disappeared, because a mysterious stone struck it at its feet.
His vision in chapter 4 should have produced more distress than it did. Upon hearing the details of the dream, Daniel too was troubled That night his life and his kingdom came to an end.
Subsequent revelations in the Book of Daniel which Daniel received were closely associated with some kind of agony or distress see27; ;, 17; What so upset Daniel about the future? Should we be troubled as well? Prophecy provides men the opportunity to think and act in a way which pleases God, who determines the future and who reveals future events to men. Chapter 7 reveals in broad terms what the future holds.
Our study of this chapter will isolate what troubled Daniel about the future. If taken seriously, we will find the future sobering as well. May the Spirit of God reveal the meaning of this prophecy to us and produce in us that which God desires to His glory and our good.
In more detail, the outline would be as follows:. Liberals reject all prophecies, because they require a sovereign God and a miraculous revelation of future events. While conservative, evangelical scholars believe the prophecies in Daniel are true, their interpretations differ greatly.
Whether liberal or conservative, our conclusions grow out of the premises and presuppositions governing the process and the product of our interpretation. For this reason, I wish to clearly state the foundational presuppositions and principles on which this exposition of Daniel is based.
Other biblical prophecies bear on the prophecies of Daniel, particularly preceding or contemporary prophecies. At least the final portion of chapter 7 has not been fulfilled.
Even those portions which we believe have been fulfilled, students of prophecy differ about the way of their fulfillment.John ESV. Sermons on John Blessed Broken Given. God's Grace. Denomination: Assembly Of God. Key verse: Because of rebellion It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground. The chapter ends with Daniel telling us that this vision left him exhausted and physically ill.
He confessed that this vision was beyond Scripture: Daniel With this section we cover the rest of the Old Testament period. It is still the backdrop, in our own day! In captivity, the Jews continue to manifest a presence. Daniel in particular is a thorn in the side of Babylon, and Satan takes special measures to rid the earth of him, all of which are unsuccessful.

But something happens: Your grandma who is not a Christian tells you that she wants you to follow the family tradition of paying your respects to your ancestors at the tea ceremony on the wedding day.

You try to tell her in the most loving way you can that as Christians both of you cannot do this. But she gets upset and complains to everyone about how unfilial you are, and that she will not attend the wedding. What will you do? As long as we live in the midst of an ungodly world we will face situations like this one.
As Christians we are to be in the world but not of the world. That means that we need to take a stand for the Lord Jesus Christ, so that we may effectively resist the pressures of the world to compromise our faith and values. But doing this is not easy. It may cause us much inconvenience and it may even cause us to lose some things we like.
Dare to be a Daniel
So how can we be convinced to do it? There is one way to be convinced. It is to be inspired by the godly examples of people who dared to take a stand for the Lord at great cost to themselves. This morning, I would like you to consider the example of Daniel.
Daniel does not need much of an introduction to us as he is one of the most well-known persons in the Old Testament. Dare to have a purpose firm and dare to make it known.
But there was one instance in which Daniel did not have to stand alone. He had three friends to stand with him and their names were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. But one day all their hopes and dreams were shattered. He planned to convert them into learned Babylonian advisors by putting them through a 3-year intensive conversion course in his royal academy.
We can imagine how they must have felt to be taken away from their home to a strange place far away. It had no less than 8 large temples, each dedicated to a different god.
Nebuchadnezzar was a very religious king.Sermon Bible. In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.
And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai. Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great. And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power. And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand. Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrificeand the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision. So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.
Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright. And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.
The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.
And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days. And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
